Overseas populations are underrepresented in studies, this is true at both the national and international levels (58,224 citations out of more than 39 million today).

This does not allow for consideration of the genetic, immune, and microbial specificities that are often compromised during the onset of metabolic diseases, cancers, neurodegenerative diseases, and infectious diseases.

The migratory, genetic, or colonial history of these populations, exposed to tropical, continental, or insular environments, can shed light on certain unfortunately very common exposures (algae, Saharan dust, pesticides, etc.). The Biological Resource Centers (CRBs) of the Overseas Network are tasked with ensuring high-quality biocollections of interest for human health studies in the French Overseas Territories and also in the Caribbean.
